A blog about Learning, about Education, about reform, about change, about what it means to teach. I am trying to ask the question "Why we educate" and what my answer means to me as a teacher and how my role shapes society and the whole.

But textbooks are always an assembly from a variety of sources, geared towards a classroom setting where the teacher leads students through the chapters and the exercises and the examinations. Neither the teacher nor the student is expected to be an expert. You just need to know enough to pass the test.

Digitizing that model of instruction changes nothing. Adding video changes nothing. Pinch and zoom and flashcards change nothing.

Traditional education is traditional education no matter if it is digital or on paper! to truly transform education we need to move away from changing passive delivery models of finite knowledge to a truly process based learning model that is about the creation of knowledge, problem solving, solution making and emotional and holistic learning!
